Kevin Provance’s first historical fiction novel, Fairlight, returns to the literary universe of his earlier works but travels further back in time — to the years just before the American Civil War. The novel tells the origin story of the Marlowe family, whose descendants later appear in Prisoner of the Game and the Ryan Thomas novel Scorpion.

The next novel in this historical line, College Hill, will take place in the years immediately following the Civil War. Set during the first year of Westber Maryland College’s opening, it tells the story of a hidden romance unfolding in a community still divided and reshaping itself after the war.
