Holding On: Displaced IV

Meet the characters

You can change time. But can you ever heal from what time changed in you?

It’s been three years since Kev Pearson’s journey across space-time with the 2025 quarter and the Fifth Column Alliance. The side effects of temporal displacement have left him battling a dangerous painkiller addiction—and an emptiness no drug can quiet.

When Kev reconnects with Becca Saccarelli, the long-lost love who once saved him from himself, their rekindled bond feeds a different kind of dependency. Together, they chase what-ifs and rewrite old memories, never realizing that the universe is already preparing to
write new ones for them.

Before she vanished into the white hole, Dr. Krissie Ecklie warned Kev they would meet again—only this time, she would be younger. In November 2009, her prophecy comes true. A younger Krissie arrives at Kev’s door with Spencer, his thirty-five-year-old son from the future. They’ve escaped from the ruins of 2035, seeking refuge in the past. As storms gather, Spencer presses his father for answers. Who was Becca? Why was she always a secret? And why does the 2025 quarter—now hanging on a chain around Kev’s neck—still hum with energy?

Meanwhile, The Corporation has never stopped hunting Kev. Led by the cold-smiling Dan Wilson, they capture him again and take him to a hidden base off the Atlantic coast. Their goal: use stolen Brüder technology to send Kev’s consciousness back into his nineteen-year-old body in 1991. He’ll have seven seconds to extract the encrypted data buried in the quarter’s edge.

If he refuses, they’ll kill Becca.

The shades of characters you have displayed in a group of friends, all failing and rising up at the same time is as real as it can get.

Your ability to misdirect where the story is going only to provide an equal or better outcome is impressive.
